The Theory to Law

What is Tax?                                                                                                       May, 12. 2022

The law I have chosen to speak about with you is the tax law. The tax law is an order to all residents for permissal.

All residents are to pay an additional 13% on consumerism and working standards being the income tax they receive from their jobs.

The purpose of the tax law is so that the federal, provincial, territorial, and municipal government all provide education, free health care, roads, highways, and other social benefits.

The creation of the tax law was factored by the Goods and Services Tax (GST), provincial sales tax (PST), and in selected provinces- the harmonized sales tax (HST). HST is a combination of both Goods and Services Tax (GST) and Provincial Tax (PST). For example the Provincial Tax is almost as if being of relation to; 22.16% from $100,000 in British Columbia compared to the order that smaller amounts are calculated. It is also applicable for other sales purposes and thus, percentages in other provinces such as Manitoba, Prince Edward Island, Quebec, Saskatchewan. Harmonized Taxes are used for business owners, mostly and are a preference for certain provinces. GST is the only tax proposal (without any other) proclaimed in Nunavut, the Northwest Territories, and Yukon.

The impact of this law is to help/support constructors in building bridges + maintaining hospitals, executing teaching in schools and containing nurses.

The personal income tax rate was 30.11% from 2003 and then was increased higher to 33% in 2016. As you can tell, the cost of the taxes on these resources were of sacrecy. It was raised for the government to produce more social services and build a stronger economy- including the production of services.

In Canada, the tax law was relating to the Top Marginal Federal Tax rate meaning it was changed by the Federal government- meaning for the country as a whole.

The tax law is effective because it supports police officers and firefighters who are vital for our health and safety. The tax law also happens to fund public libraries or parks.

www.canada.ca is a main source that can provide trusted information about the tax law.

There are concerns about the tax law that I’ve heard from peers- in which it has strengthened duties but caused a burden on the residents’ finance. In partition, not enough people have been cooperating to sustain the environment and help stop polluting, either. There are so many aspects that come into respecting laws, tax regulations and even the environment around us. We wouldn’t want such damage to become a part of the tax consideration so let’s help our economy with all that we can now!

Where do Diamonds Come From?

By: Sara Wisniewski                                                                                                           June, 16. 2022

Facts:

  • A lot of children are let out of school to work in mines and find diamonds.

  • Africa includes 65% of the diamonds in the world.

  • 52 governments created diamond “passports” to allow transportation and shipment of the diamonds in 2003.

  • 3.87 to 5.8 billion dollars/year have been made through taxes and trade off diamonds.

  • The Kimberley Process has helped to ban diamonds from helping in producing genocidal wars

  • The Kimberley Process allows customers to buy the diamonds only if they would help out the miners efficiently, beneficially and positively in their mining process.

  • Mines go up to 15 meters deep.

  • Diamonds are exported from Kinshasa

  • Mines go up to 15 meters deep

Issues:

  • 24 million dollars (or 140,000 carats) have been smuggled since May 2013.

  • Uncut diamonds have impacted and been used to create the Angola and Sierra Leone War.

  • 140,000 carats or 24 million dollars have been smuggled since May 2013 when the act was restricted.

  • More than 1000 people have died, have been raped, have been hurt or have been used as slaves in Zimbabwe.

  • 5%-10% of the diamonds are being traded illegally.

  • More than 1000 people have been hurt, have died, have been raped, and used as slaves in Zimbabwe.

Decision:

  • I would assume that the federal, provincial and municipal court is involved. Federal between countries, provincial between provinces and municipal between cities.

  • There are already rules and laws set on human rights and it is up to the people to step up to raise concern and seek support for an issue.

  • I would decide to send agents to see whether anyone (who can’t speak up due to lack of government) in African countries specifically, to check if there are any concerns that are in need of help.

  • I would decide to send agents or representatives because many places in Africa specifically don’t have a court and governmental laws. Many don’t know who to go to when something is wrong. They don’t have cell phones either.

Opinions:

  • My opinion on the blood diamonds case is that miners do not earn enough money for finding these rare and high quality diamonds.

  • I believe that there is not enough emotional support found in African countries if rape, death, slavery or injuries have happened.

  • I believe there needs to be more first aid in low-income countries.

  • We can learn that we should be all thankful and very grateful for getting jewelry and having lifestyles that not many others have. This also speaks upon clothing, homes, fresh water supply, food and even entertainment that people work so hard for us to contain.
